Long Bio - David King, Managing Director, Vue Consulting

Born in Brisbane, Australia, David King has 20 years of sales, management and advice experience.  David’s career began in with four years in retail sales, selling computers in the late 1980’s where he learnt the foundations of personal sales success.  He then embarked on a 12 year career in Investment Banking, working as an adviser, manager and executive for JPMorgan and BNP Paribas.  As an Investment Banker, David lived and worked in Sydney, Tokyo, New York and London.  He managed staff and clients from over 40 countries and provided financial advice to Governments, Financial Institutions, Top 50 Corporates and wealthy individuals.

David returned to Australia in 2005 where he managed a team of Private Banking executives for ANZ, assisting high-net-worth families with all aspects of their personal finances.  David also completed subjects for his Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning.  In 2007, David founded his own training company, Vue Consulting.

Vue Consulting provides exclusive training for the owners and advisers of Professional Services practices, primarily in consulting, finance, accounting, IT, law and recruitment.  David and his team help professional advisers to be more successful with their technical skills by focusing on four key commercial areas – their use of time, their ability to find new clients, their revenue generating skills and their client advocacy processes.

David founded Vue Consulting with a mission to provide practical solutions to practical problems, within an Australian context.  David is the Managing Director and Instructional Designer for the company and, as a result, creates all the content and learning methodology used in the company’s training experiences.  David is a Fellow of the Institute of Learning Professionals and a Member of the American Society of Training and Development.  He has a Bachelor of Economics, with First Class Post-graduate Honours from the University of Queensland.

Outside of Vue Consulting, David is kept busy with two young children, actively trains in Jujitsu, plays the drums in a rock cover band, has more than a passing interest in wine and is an active Non-Executive Director.

Audio Visual Requirements

• Microphone:  David has a preference for a lapel microphone as he is often moving among the audience during his presentations.  A lectern microphone can be accommodated.
• Slides:  Most of David’s presentations utilise short PowerPoint slides to highlight key points or assist in audience interaction (such as multiple choice questions).  A laptop, projector and slide “clicker” are required.  Vue Consulting uses PowerPoint 2007 or later (PowerPoint 2003 or earlier is not compatible).
• Seating:  Most of David’s presentations are interactive.  Banquet/table seating tends to work the best, allowing small groups to discuss topics between themselves.  However, lecture/classroom style seating can equally be accommodated (NB:  Centres of Influence Referrals requires banquet/table seating).
